At Skate Morinville, we welcome little ones aged 3 and up to discover the magic of the ice.

Our beginner pathway is designed to build confidence from the very first glide. Starting with Pre-CanSkate, children learn basic balance and coordination in a playful, supportive environment. As they grow, they transition into our CanSkate program, Canada's flagship learn-to-skate curriculum, master fundamental movements through high-energy lessons led by our certified professional coaches.

Our flagship learn-to-skate program for all ages. This program builds a strong foundation for hockey, figure skating, or recreational skating, while developing confidence and essential skills in a fun and supportive environment.

What They’ll Learn:
Forward skating, stopping, and turning
• Agility, balance, and edge control
• Speed, power, and overall coordination

What equipment does my child need to wear for skating?

We suggest warm, layered clothing that allows for easy movement. Waterproof pants and insulated mittens are highly recommended for beginners to stay dry, warm, and comfortable during their first steps on the ice.

What if my child cannot stand up on the ice yet?

That is perfectly normal! Our Pre-CanSkate program is specifically designed to help toddlers and children gain their balance. Our certified coaches are experts at teaching the very basics in a fun and supportive away.

What is the club refund and cancellation policy?

Refunds are generally available sevens days  before the session start date, subject to an administration fee of $50.00 and non-refundable Skate Canada insurance. No refunds  after the first session starts. Please refer to our registration guide for current term policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are hockey helmets mandatory for all beginner programs?

Yes, a CSA-approved hockey helmet is mandatory for all Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate participants. For safety reasons, bicycle, ski, or multi-sport helmets are not permitted on the ice by Skate Canada regulations.

Is there a minimum age for children to start skating?

Our beginner programs (Pre-CanSkate) are designed for children aged 3 and older. We focus on physical literacy and fun, ensuring they develop confidence and core stability while learning to enjoy the sport.

Can we schedule a make-up class if we miss one?

Unfortunately, we do not offer make-up sessions or credits for missed classes. Our programs maintain strict coach-to-student ratios to ensure safety and quality instruction for all participants on the ice.
